You guys know that I’m a lover of all things organized and so when this pretty kit came to my doorstep I knew right away what I wanted to do with it! Even back when the preview went live, I saw that floral paper and knew it was begging to become a dashboard in my pretty mint planner!

I used one of the pretty wood veneer embellishments to add a splash of variety to my dashboard and after slipping in a bunch of pretty ephemera pieces, I was ready to get planning!

Those puffy stickers were perfect for adding in my goals to my monthly goals page!

And of course my planner wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t have a cute page maker! Taking one of the die cut bows included in this months kit and adhering it to a paper clip makes just the perfect one!

Quilt inspired Layout with My Minds Eye

Hello, Hello dear My Minds Eye readers! I’m so glad that you’re here today because I want to show you my newest layout with the By the Sea collection!

This collection is packed to the brim with the cutest little images of mermaids, stars, anchors, whales, sea shells, and even narwals! I loved the use of stars so much that I made a bit of a star myself in the center of my layout!

My family and I recently went on our very first cruise so these fun photos of us on the beach at Castaway Cay were the perfect fit with this fun nautical collection.

I’ve been quilting  a lot lately so the thought of half square triangles were fresh in my head and by cutting a 6×6 piece of paper diagonally a few times,  I made myself these fun little triangles to play around with!

I think my favorite pages are always the ones that showcase a lot of different patterned papers on the same page! I love being able to see the diversity of pattern and color all in the same spot!

After I added the square photo and a bunch of fun embellishments, I felt pretty great about how the page was coming along!

After I added a title with those perfect silver and navy letters, I knew it was done!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Butterfly Wall Art | Felicity Jane

Are you all getting excited about spring? I know I sure am! Spring is probably already in full swing for those of you in the lower 48, but up here in Alaska, the signs of spring are everywhere! The air is crisp, we’ve got a lotmore sunlight but it will still be a while before we see any flowers popping out of the ground!

But just because it will be a while for spring to be here outside, doesn’t mean I can’t make it feel like spring inside!

Alexes Marie Brown | @felicityjane

And that is why I wanted to make this little butterfly wall art for my little girls room! I’m loving all of these bright colors and let’s be real… nothing feels more like spring than butterflies!!

Alexes Marie Brown | @felicityjane

I used one of the Maggie Holmes embellishments that was included in the kit and then added these wondrous colorful butterflies around the rest of the page! Isn’t is just adorable??

Alexes Marie Brown | @felicityjane

I love projects that utilize a grid, so this type of thing is right up my alley and I can’t wait to hang it up in my home!

Alexes Marie Brown | @felicityjane

Oh and thank you Target dollar spot for the adorable gold mini clipboard! I’m totally loving on it!!!

Alexes Marie Brown | @felicityjane

I hope you all are just dying to go and make some spring inspired decor!!

Felicity Jane | Love Layout

Good Morning, Good Morning all you wonderful people!! I’m here today to show you a fun layout using a technique I’ve never used before!

Alexes Marie Brown | @felicityjane

So I had seen layouts like this before and I had previously tried to make one but failed miserably! I decided it was time to have another go at it and as you can see this time around was much more successful!

Here’s the trick to getting those perfect triangles! First, select your four papers, then cut each one to 6×12. Using a ruler make a tiny dot at the 6in mark on the long edge of the paper. Then using a paper cutter, line up the mark, and the very corner of your paper and cut! It worked perfect every time! Oh another helpful tip, is that you can leave two of your papers as a 6×12 and just lay your triangles on top and it looks just perfect!

So typically as a scrapbooker, I tend to savor my products, and make them last a long time, so I really surprised myself when I used so much of this washi on one page! It was a little nerve wracking but in the end I’m really glad I took the risk and went for it!!

Alexes Marie Brown | @felicityjane

After adding my picture on top of the washi, and then adding a few stickers, and embellishments around the washi, I was happy with my finished product!

And there you have it! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

My Minds Eye | April Challenge | Shaker Elements

Ahoy there!! wink wink, see what I did there??

I know I posted a few days ago, but I’m back for the April Challenge! It didn’t take me long to decided what the theme of my challenge should be because I just love adding new and fun elements to my projects! Shaker elements are just that! I love being creative with them and really there is an endless amount of ways you can use them in your projects!

Alexes Marie Brown | April Challenge | Shaker Elements

Before we get to that though, let’s talk about this little page of mine that I whipped up for you all! If you guys know me then you know I love the color navy, and all things nautical and that’s what makes the new By The Sea so much fun to use!

I had in my minds eye, the idea of having a shaker element that took up a huge part of my page and so when I stumbled across this picture of our latest cruise docked in port, I thought an anchor would be the perfect fit. So I used my electronic die cutter to cut that out, and then I took an empty 12×12 page protector and cut it so it was 11.5×11.5. Then after selecting the different shapes, sizes and colors of the sequins I wanted to use, I stuffed them all into the page protector and sealed it with washi tape!
Alexes Marie Brown | April Challenge | Shaker Elements

After using more washi to adhere the page protector behind my cardstock, I used my sewing machine to sew a straight line (with my favorite gold thread, of course) around the edge of my page, to make sure the page protector would stay in place and hey, I just love the way it looks!
Alexes Marie Brown | April Challenge | Shaker ElementsThen it was time to embellish! My favorite part! I seriously crush on this color scheme, there’s something about red, white and blue that is just so classic and always looks good! The touches of silver in the embellishments is really so pretty! I’m a gold lover for sure, but silver is really just as pretty and this line really reminded me of that!

Alexes Marie Brown | April Challenge | Shaker Elements

I don’t know about you but I seriously just love the look of the sequins scattered behind my cut out anchor, and the best part is that it’s interactive and it changes every time!

So I challenge you to use some type of shaker embellishment in one of your projects! Really this technique can be used for all kinds of projects, layouts, mini albums, cards, or home decor projects! Don’t forget to use your imagination!!
