Do you struggle with keeping up to date on your Project Life? I know I do, and it was a long time before I developed a system that made it sooo much easier for me to stay current! Here are 5 tips that will help make Project Life a little easier!
1. KEEP AN ON GOING LIST
So I’ve found that the hardest thing with project life, for me, is remembering all those little details and memories from the previous week. Before I started an on going list, I used to sit down to scrap and try and remember the things we did that week or month… and to be honest, I forgot a lot of things. It makes me sad that I missed out on all these fun little memories! So I finally decided to find a system that worked for me, and I about to show you two different ways of doing it.
(P.S. Most of these Apps are for iphone, but there should be some sort of equivalent out there for androids)
The first way is using the Notes App on my iPhone. I would write out the dates and then underneith each day I would jot down a memory, or an event we went to. (p.s. you could totally do with with a regular note pad and pen) But this didn’t end up working as well for me as this next app did.
Take a look at this little baby! It’s called Day One, you do have to pay a little for it but I promise it will be money well spent! I LOVE this app! It has made Project Life and scrapbooking in general sooooo much easier for me!
Here’s how it works, you open the app and then have the option to add a photo, or add text. Say you want to jot down a little memory from the day, click the text button and type it in. This app will automatically add the time, temperature, location and all sorts of other details, so you don’t have to! Wanna add a picture?? Easy! Just click the picture icon, take your picture, add a little caption and again the app will add all the other additional information for you! Another cool feature to this app is that you can tag posts/pictures, this makes it easier to look at all the posts/pictures with a particular tag such as, Christmas, summer, vacations, etc. I highly recommend this app to anyone and everyone! It’s especially useful for those who are always on the go!
2. IN PHONE EDITING
Another tip is to edit your pictures on your phone. 100% of my project life pictures are from my iphone, I used to take pictures with my dslr but then I would have to import them to Lightroom, edit them, export them, and then upload them to costco.com and then pick them up….. yadda yadda yadda, you get the picture! I found that the chances of me actually following through with all those steps were slim to none, so again, I had to find another way. That’s when I decided that iphone pictures are good enough! Who cares that the quality isn’t as great, the whole point is to be able to remember these moments right!
I have a whole home screen on my iPhone full of photography editing apps, but this one is truly my favorite! It’s the brand new Rhonne Designs App and lemme tell ya, it’s fantastic and has everything you need all in one app! You can add frames, mess with filters, add text, and even add digital elements! I’m telling you, you NEED to check it out! Here are a few screen shots I used while editing some of my project life photos. Not to mention that Rhonna is one of the sweetest persons I have ever met! She is amazingly positive and you just love being around here!
and this is what you get when you’re all done! The possibilities are truly endless with this app, and for just $1.99 it’s the best value for any photo editing app out there!
3. AT HOME PRINTING
yeah, I know it’s not the most cost effective way of printing, but you seriously cannot beat the connivence of at home printing! Especially with all of the smaller than 4×6 photos that are so popular these days, it really make it easier that I can do it all from my phone. I used to edit all of my photos in Photoshop to get them to be the right size so when the were printed at costco they wouldn’t print all weird but that took foreverrrrr…
So I bit the bullet and got my self a Selphy… and I gotta say, I love it, with my whole heart. It’s so darn easy and everything can be done right in my phone for an even easier process!
The first thing you need to do, if you want 2 2×3’s is upload your pics to this app called, Pic Jointer and it isn’t too fancy, but it gets the job done and more importantly it has these little ratio selections at the top. When printing from a Selphy you need a 3:4 or and 3:2 ratio. Click the icon that had two portrait photos, upload your photos and then save!
Next you need to open the Canon Printing app, click on the picture you want to print and voila!!
See! So easy!!
4. USE A TEMPLATE
When I first saw this idea, I thought genius! I’m one of those scrappers to arranges, and rearranges and then rearranges again. So this little template makes it really easy for me to place my papers, pictures, and elements so I have have a better feel of the finished project.
5. DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU
When it comes down to it, it’s all about what system works for you! The tips I’ve given here might not work for you and your life and that’s okay. My process is always evolving and I’m learning what does and doesn’t work for me and my scrapbooking is becoming better for it! It’s all about getting those photos in albums so take some pressure off yourself and do what works for you. If printing pictures at Costco is easier for you, do it. If editing pictures on your computer is easier for you, do it! Just have fun!!
