Ahoy there!! wink wink, see what I did there??
I know I posted a few days ago, but I’m back for the April Challenge! It didn’t take me long to decided what the theme of my challenge should be because I just love adding new and fun elements to my projects! Shaker elements are just that! I love being creative with them and really there is an endless amount of ways you can use them in your projects!
Before we get to that though, let’s talk about this little page of mine that I whipped up for you all! If you guys know me then you know I love the color navy, and all things nautical and that’s what makes the new By The Sea so much fun to use!
I had in my minds eye, the idea of having a shaker element that took up a huge part of my page and so when I stumbled across this picture of our latest cruise docked in port, I thought an anchor would be the perfect fit. So I used my electronic die cutter to cut that out, and then I took an empty 12×12 page protector and cut it so it was 11.5×11.5. Then after selecting the different shapes, sizes and colors of the sequins I wanted to use, I stuffed them all into the page protector and sealed it with washi tape!
After using more washi to adhere the page protector behind my cardstock, I used my sewing machine to sew a straight line (with my favorite gold thread, of course) around the edge of my page, to make sure the page protector would stay in place and hey, I just love the way it looks!
Then it was time to embellish! My favorite part! I seriously crush on this color scheme, there’s something about red, white and blue that is just so classic and always looks good! The touches of silver in the embellishments is really so pretty! I’m a gold lover for sure, but silver is really just as pretty and this line really reminded me of that!
I don’t know about you but I seriously just love the look of the sequins scattered behind my cut out anchor, and the best part is that it’s interactive and it changes every time!
So I challenge you to use some type of shaker embellishment in one of your projects! Really this technique can be used for all kinds of projects, layouts, mini albums, cards, or home decor projects! Don’t forget to use your imagination!!
